The beginnings

Integrated Management Services Ltd. is esthablished in Wroclaw in March 1997. It acts as a consulting company in the water sector, organizing numerous training assistance programs, workshops and conferences.

MATRA Programme

The Dutch-Polish Institutional Cooperation Programme in the Odra River basin is implemented from June 1997 to December 1999. MATRA Programme forms an effective platform for interregional cooperation in the Odra River basin and allows the direct exchange of experience between Polish and Dutch specialists. By initiating a discussion on development strategies of Odra basin communities, it contributes significantly to the development of ideas and objectives of the Programme for the Odra River.

Association of Partnership for the Odra River

Actions taken by the MATRA Programme are continued by the Association of Partnership for the Odra River established in April 1999. Association unites in its ranks representatives of central and local government levels of Odra River region, academic faculty and key business executives from the water sector. Through active lobbying the association contributes significantly to the adoption, by the Parliament in July 2001, of the act which establishes the Programme for the Odra River 2006.

Conference: "The vision of water management in Poland of XXI Century"

Among actions taken by the Association, IMS Ltd. co-organizes an international conference "Vision of water management in Poland in twenty-first century ", which is held in Wroclaw on 13-14 November 2000. The main goal of the meeting is to discuss the challenges for water management in Poland in perspective till the year 2025 against the background of global trends. Attendance at the conference of General Secretary of the Global Water Partnership is an incentive for the creation of the Polish Committee of this international organization.

 

International experience exchange

 

China

In 2001, IMS is involved in the organization of technical - training trip to China. Training is held on 14-26 May 2001. While visiting the site of the world biggest dam, Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River, participants of the training establish professional contacts with the Water Resources Commission of the Yangtze River Basin in Wuhan. They also learn about key issues of water management in China.

Brazil

In 2002, IMS Ltd. is again involved in the organization of technical - training trip to Brazil. During the meetings and seminars, the trainees have the opportunity to learn the key issues of water management in south - east Brazil, including the problem of urban water supply in Sao Paulo and the organization of hydrometeorological services. Schedule of the trip includes visit to the world's largest hydroelectric power plant Itaipu on the Parana River.
